今では新竪町といえば、オシャレなショップが多いイメージだけど
ちょっと前までは、そうでもなくて割と寂しい商店街だった。
今回紹介するbenlly’s & jobは、そんな時代に新竪町にオープンさせた先駆け的ショップなのです。

今の場所は数年前に移転した場所だけど、その前も新竪町にあったし、
オーナーの田中さんが自分で制作したレザークラフトや海外のマニアックな家電などを
扱っていたショップもあったりして、今では新竪町の顔のようなセレクト雑貨店。

昔からワールドワイドに国やスタイルには限定してなくて
ヨーロッパのデットストック雑貨や洋服、アーミー系の小物やインテリア雑貨、北欧雑貨など
いろんな国のいろんなアイテムが揃ってます。
今ではネットでいろいろ検索すれば見つかるかも知れないけど
僕が通っていた時は、benlly’s & jobに行けばセンス良く集められた商品に出会えるし
その商品のウンチクなども詳しく話してくれるので、ついつい話を聞いて購入する事もしばしば。

オーナーの田中さんとは、同じ会社に勤めていた事もあって
その時から雑貨の事いろいろ教えてもらってたなぁ。
benlly’s & jobをオープンする時と僕がフリーランスになったのがほぼ同時期だったので
一番最初のショップカードのデザインをさせてもらったり
今でもお店に行くとお互いの状況や今後の展望など話は尽きない。

カメラや時計などマニアックな商品を扱っていた時に購入したモノは今でも僕の大切な宝物です。

オーナーの商品ウンチク聞くのが、何より楽しいです。

2階には、BENLLY’S & JOB WORK ROOMとゆう工房があって
オリジナルの革製カメラストラップや手帳カバー、バッグ、シルバーバングルなどを製作しています。
不定期だけどワークショップも開催しているようなので
興味のある方は、参加するのも楽しいと思いますよ！
On the 2nd floor, there are BENLLY’S & JOB WORK ROOM and Yu Studio, we are producing original leather camera straps, notebook covers, bags, silver bangles and so on.
Although it is irregular, it seems that a workshop is also held, so if you are interested it would be fun to join!
